The starting point for PROFIT was to identify the core values of the destinations in the 5 participating regions (West Flanders (lead partner), Essex (UK), Kent (UK), Pas de Calais (France) and Zeeland (NL). The identification of these values led to the construction of individual destination frameworks. This led to the creation of bespoke digital toolkits for hundreds of businesses across these destinations to use. The project had a widespread impact in Kent, engaging a large number of tourism and hospitality businesses through a series of activities meant to equip them with the necessary knowledge and inspiration to improve their performance. Key activity from the project included identifying the DNA of the destinations, specialist sessions on Interpreting Big Data, service design sessions including co-creation workshops where tourism businesses worked with visitors on developing an offer that works for both, expert panels, masterclasses on collaboration and digital, one to one coaching sessions with experts on individual challenges, bespoke innovation plans, 2 cross-border inspiration trips and an international Think Tank with experts from the 5 regions.
